Former Real Housewives of New York City star and founder of the Skinnygirl empire, Bethenny Frankel, has been engaged in a custody battle over her four year old daughter, Bryne, for two years. On the other side of the disagreement is father of Bryne and estranged husband of Frankel, Jason Hoppy. The pair is still married and have been involved in a high profile divorce dispute since 2012.
The former Bravo reality show stars have been feuding since Frankel asked for a divorce. The two continued to live together in their Tribeca home until earlier this year when Frankel moved out after reporting that is was becoming unbearable to live with Hoppy. Both parties admit to being involved in name calling and threats, all of which resulted in a hostile environment.
Earlier this summer, the couple agreed to a custody arrangement for their daughter Bryne. Although the terms of the agreement are confidential, it seems that they have agreed to share custody. Agreements where both parties have equal parenting rights can be mutually beneficial to the parents and child alike. Although it seems unlikely that the agreement will operate smoothly, as the couple has a recent history of dramatic altercations, the court can hope for the best. The couple remains embroiled in their divorce case which may impact the operation of the custody agreement on some level.
Hoppy’s attorney, Bernard Clair, stated that Hoppy was very happy with the agreement. He also said that Hoppy wishes Frankel the best and looks forward to sharing the milestones of parenting with her. Frankel has not commented on the newly reached agreement.
